- Add olive oil to a saucepan on the stove over medium heat.
- Add garlic and stir-fry for 1–2 minutes, or until it is fragrant.
- Stir in tomato sauce and paste until smooth.
- Season with oregano, basil, onion powder, salt, pepper, and chili flakes (if using).
- Turn down the heat and simmer for 10–15 minutes until thickened and tasty.
- Remove from heat. Either use immediately, or cool completely and store.
Notes
Use an immersion blender to puree it for a creamier sauce.
Season to taste — a little more basil if it needs sweetness, a dash or two of chili flakes if you want heat.
Refrigerate for 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
